The soon to be released RobotEye RE03 3D Laser Scanning System is a breakthrough in robust 3D scanning for on-board 3D mapping from mobile platforms operating in harsh environments as well as for more familiar survey and measurement tasks. As with our other 3D laser scanners, the RobotEye RE03 scanner delivers unprecedented control of scanning behaviour; no other laser scanner offers similar control over the attention of the scanned beam. The RE03 3D scanner is a high performance long range 3D laser range scanner ideally suited to generating high frame rate point clouds to ranges exceeding 100 metres from the sensor. A data rate of up to 12,000 3D data points per second ensures highly detailed point clouds are acquired quickly. The combination of a range accuracy of 25mm and angular beam pointing accuracy of 0.05° in both azimuth and elevation guarantees accurate placement of 3D data points over the full 100 metre plus range of the RE03 scanner.

The RobotEye RE03 3D Laser Scanning System's breakthrough design allowing separation of the scanning head from the measurement and control unit by up to 20 metres, enables the location of the scan head in situations that would not be tolerated by the traditional approach of locating the scanning and measurement functions together. This arrangement allows the positioning of the RE03 scan head in locations that for reasons of temperature, space, vibration or other factors would prohibit the placement of traditional systems. System location options are further enhanced by the simple connection of power and Ethernet to the control unit allowing control of the system from, and data to be received at, locations remote from the site of the scanner's control unit. The ability to separate data acquisition from the processing of 3D data and control of the scanner by a significant distance is important for many industrial applications, and the RE03 3D scanner achieves this with its Ethernet control and communications interface.
