RobotEye Custom SolutionsBack To Products >>

Ocular Robotics' cornerstone is the company's capability to generate new high performance sensor pointing embodiments from its core technology. From concept, through development to final product, Ocular Robotics brings together expertise in optical system design, mechatronic design, sensor integration and software development to create sensor pointing technologies unmatched in performance and flexibility.

The patented RobotEye technology that is at the heart of all Ocular Robotics' sensor pointing systems is the key by which our systems deliver unparalleled aperture motion bandwidth. The possibilities available to configure that core technology for a host of different applications are almost as broad as the motion bandwidth itself. Whether the requirement is for an OEM component sub-system or a special purpose standalone system, the design flexibility of the RobotEye technology ensures that Ocular Robotics can deliver to its clients and partners implementations designed specifically to match the target application environment, performance and system integration specifications.

The scope of any customisation project will fall either into customisation of an existing RobotEye system or full custom development of a new RobotEye embodiment. Contact Ocular Robotics for advice specific to your project.

The following points outline some of the areas commonly targeted for customisation.

  • Optical Path Components - The RobotEye optical path can accommodate optical elements to effect the efficient integration of a broad range of sensors or even enable single aperture multiple sensor systems.
  • System Aperture - The system aperture defines the amount light/signal that can enter a RobotEye system. Sensor aperture requirements vary widely and RobotEye based sensor pointing systems are able to be configured to provide system apertures exceeding 200mm in diameter, ensuring a solution can be found for almost any sensor.
  • Performance Characteristics - The hallmark of RobotEye systems is their unprecedented motion bandwidth with accelerations exceeding 50,000°/s2 and slew rates up to 10,000°/s, however it is possible to tailor performance parameters, particularly in relation to aperture position resolution and accuracy.
  • Environmental Specifications - Environmental specifications of RobotEye systems can be altered to meet the requirements of a wide range of operating environments. By changing ingress protection (IP) rating, operating temperature limits or a range of other parameters, RobotEye systems can be tailored for almost any operating environment.
  • Size - The size of a RobotEye system optical head is driven largely by the required aperture. As stated prior, system apertures can exceed 200mm in diameter and conversely applications requiring small apertures can result in quite small RobotEye optical heads.
  • Materials - The materials used for RobotEye system components particularly those exposed to the environment may be changed to meet a range requirements including strength, impact resistance, weight, corrosion resistance and to meet compliance regulations.
